Guns Recovered
Police have recovered a number of weapons stolen from the force's national headquarters in Port Moresby. Police say most of the guns were recovered at the Morata and 5 Mile settlements in the National Capital District.

Police Seek Help
Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga has appealed to clan leaders living around Kagamuga in Mt Hagen to come forward with information about the murder of Australian Robert Purdy. Mr Purdy, 62, died instantly in the early hours of Monday morning after being shot with what police believe is a nine-millimetre pistol when a group of up to 10 men stormed a home in Mt Hagen, in PNG's Western Highlands.

The Australian Member of Parliament for Cairns says an increase in the number of sick people from Papua New Guinea is straining resources at the Cairns Base Hospital. Commonwealth Youth Ministers' Meeting

An immigration task force team has arrested overseas nationals from Bangladesh and China in several raids in Lae. The team also uncovered multiple instances where Papua New Guineans working in foreign owned shops were being paid well below the minimum wage.

Manus Island Asylum Centre
In a submission to an Australian parliamentary inquiry, Australia's Immigration Department admits its own centre on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea is not up to scratch and is contributing to behavioural problems and illnesses. The military tents are hot and humid, there's drinking and power supply problems and the camp itself is in a low lying swamp - a known mosquito breeding area.

Young Aussies
Young Australians have been urged by World Vision CEO Tim Costello to visit Papua New Guinea to improve relations between the two countries. Vale Jim Yer Waim
Former Environment and Conservation Minister during the Namaliu government in the 1980's, Jim Yer Waim, died at Port Moresby General Hospital on the 19th of April after a short illness. Mr Yer Waim leaves behind 16 children and 10 wives (two expatriates and 8 nationals).

The coastline from Vanimo in West Sepik to Lae in Morobe province has been described as vulnerable to the effects of climate change. This is according to a report from the Australian Government's International Climate Change Adaptation Initiative (ICCAI) data.
