Air Niugini Fokker's

PNG flag carrier Air Niugini is to add seven former KLM Fokker 70 aircraft to its fleet, building on one existing former KLM Fokker 70 that it took in October 2014. Air Niugini said the type would offer increased capacity and range, compared with its 10 Bombardier Q400 turboprops, enabling it to serve regional routes that its existing F100 and Boeing fleets are "too large to operate into."

Rabaul, about 5,000 kilometres from Japan, is known as an area of fierce battle during the Pacific War. Relics left by the Japanese military have lasted for generations in the southern land, where the south-eastern command of the Imperial Japanese Navy's Combined Fleet, led by Isoroku Yamamoto, was located. Probe Call Rejected

Peter O'Neill has hit out at calls by two former prime ministers for a probe into the government's stake in Oil Search, after the producer rejected a large takeover bid from Australia's Woodside Petroleum. -


Trukai Fun Run

Sir John Dawanincura, president of the PNG Olympic committee, said, that there are plans in place for the Fun Run to be far more inclusive than it is at the moment, saying also that 'with the right support and commitment from all stakeholders, our athletes can only get better'.

Major events on the PNG Olympics calendar for the next few years, will include, the Mini Pacific Games, Olympics, and commonwealth games, with the Trukai Fun Run, still the major fundraiser, as they look to send more of Papua New Guinea's best, to these events.


Cybercrime Law

Cybercrime offenders in PNG will be prosecuted under a new law, PNG's Information Technology and Communication Minister Jimmy Miringtoro says. The Government has allocated K3.2 million for the development of the standalone cybercrime legislation, its capacity building and an awareness programme.


FIFA U20 Women's World Cup

PNG has been given the green light to host the FIFA under 20 Women's World Cup. The approval was recently given by FIFA. A total of 16 countries from around the world will be coming to the country to compete.


No Confidence Motion Imminent

PNG's opposition MPs claim they have the numbers to oust the Prime Minister Peter O'Neill in a vote on a motion of no-confidence this Parliament session. Opposition Leader, Don Polye, says Mr O'Neill has continued to violate laws, processes and procedures and has discarded the usual checks and balances that should be respected in a democracy.


Fight Against Cancer Campaign

Hospital Poroman Foundation's Fight Against Cancer Campaign has been officially launched in Port Moresby. Well renowned PNG musicians Adrian Gedisa and Radley Lavaimat represent the Foundation as ambassadors, alongside Australian Wallabies Halfback and Papua New Guinean born Will Genia, who leads the campaign with the backing of home grown talent in the likes of Billy Torea, Manu Guise and Titi Gigimat.


Wabag Shopping Centre

A new shopping Centre worth more than K2 million has opened in Wabag town, Enga province.


Japanese Invests in Infrastructure

The Japanese Government has signed a grant contract with the Wapenamanda District in Enga to reconstruct the Tale Bridge in Tsak local level government. The investment is an important link for the people of Tsak (SAHK) local level government in Wapenamanda. It is predicted that this new infrastructure will improve transportation services in the district and benefit an estimated 30,000 locals.

Kawana-based PNG supermodel Noreen Pisa has endured a lot of hate as the face of social reform in her home country, but she's not about to cover up. Fearing oppression in PNG, she moved to Australia's Sunshine Coast six years ago to pursue her modelling career.


Family Support Centre PMGH

Australia has provided a mini-bus to the Family Support Centre (FSC) at the Port Moresby General Hospital to support its outreach to survivors of family and sexual violence. The mini-bus was provided by the Australian Government's Pacific Women Shaping Pacific Development program. Australia is assisting the hospital to scope a possible refurbishment of the centre to help meet demand for its services.


Attack Survivor Gets Bravery Award

A trek leader who had to walk for five hours, stumbling through the dark jungle after being attacked along the Black Cat Track in September 2013 has received the Star of Courage honour - Australia's highest civilian bravery medal.


Coca Cola Supports Athletics

Coca Cola has helped the Southern Region Championships by sponsoring the championship medals with a contribution of K2,500

Homelessness on the Rise

Homelessness is on the Rise in Port Moresby. The homeless people sleep in groups, in front of shops and offices where there's light. There are hundreds who also sleep on the streets, and pretend to have homes.



Goodenough Food Supplies

A total of 3400 bags of rice will soon be leaving Port Moresby for Milne Bay's drought-affected Kiriwina-Goodenough district.

Morobe Show

About 100,000 people from all over the country flocked to the Lae Showgrounds for the start of Morobe Show. The main area was filled to capacity by 11:00am. The day began with Rodeo and Motorcycle displays.


Sewage Treatment

a joint venture has been formed between Dai Nippon Construction (DNC) and Hitachi for sewage water treatment infrastructure facilities in Port Moresby. The total value of the order is approximately 13.3 billion yen. This project will be undertaken through an Official Development Assistance (ODA) loan from the Japanese government, according to Hitachi.


Ideas for Development

In an effort to encourage public discussion and input into the development of cities and towns, the National Research Institute (NRI) ran an "Ideas Competition" on how the Fairfax Harbour in Port Moresby should look.


Methanol Production

Japanese company Sojitz has signed an agreement with NPCP, a state-owned oil company in PNG, to establish a methanol manufacturing business. Both the companies signed a shareholder's agreement, and aim to reach a final investment decision by 2017. The joint-venture will develop the business, utilising the natural gas available in the country.


The Indonesian government is planning to cooperate with PNG to develop the national oil and gas sector in Eastern Indonesia. --

Bank South Pacific (BSP) have introduced Samantha Vulum as Miss BSP in the 2015 Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG. From a mixed parentage of West New Britain and Central Provinces, Samantha is employed by her sponsor, BSP, as an Administration Officer.

How do you reach patients where Land Cruiser will not go? This is just one challenge, of many: how to access and treat patients in the tuberculosis (TB) programme that has been running since May 2014, ensuring that a population with a high burden of TB and increasing cases of Drug Resistant TB can receive the necessary treatment and follow-up care.


PNG Spice

PNG has the potential to rake in large export revenues from the sale of spices if fully exploited. Many of the spices that are currently imported can be grown in PNG. For instance, Turmeric powder, an important ingredient in food colouring and Asian food dishes, is a plant found almost everywhere in the country.

Water PNG has embarked on a modern and convenient payment scheme for its customers to pay water bills. Effective 22nd October 2015, Water PNG customers will be able to pay their bills online and via mobile phones with BSP, ANZ and Westpac online payment schemes.


Gordons Market

National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop has announced the Gordons market will be redeveloped at a cost of K30 million. Governor Parkop says the New Zealand Government has made a commitment of K15 million, while National Capital District Commission (NCDC) will cover the remaining K15 million.
