Mining in PNG
The Mines Inspection division of the Mineral Resources Authority (MRA) was busy last year as it tried to ensure all mining laws were followed and no employee's lives were put at risk during the operation of the mines. Operators in 2010 can expect the same treatment to be given without fear or favour. Failure to comply will result in the shutting down of operations costing millions of Kina until the legal and practical requirements are fully satisfied and are up to PNG standards.
